Thank you to all those who shared their views and experiences of being affected by the drug or alcohol related death of a relative for a research project by the University of Bath and the University of Stirling.
The researchers aim to better understand and respond to the needs of bereaved family members who have experienced a loss that can be unacknowledged and even stigmatised. On the basis of what they have learnt from participants about their experience and how they coped with it, the researchers will work with addiction and bereavement services to develop guidelines for practitioners. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of the project in due course.
If you would like to be contacted about similar projects in the future, please join Nacoa’s panel of research volunteers. There is never any pressure to take part in any project you don’t feel comfortable with.
